Thoughts and stories regarding my upcoming mission to Bangkok, Thailand. (June 19-August 3, 2012)
“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice
and untie the cords of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free
and break every yoke?
7 Is it not to share your food with the hungry
and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—
when you see the naked, to clothe them,
and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
and your healing will quickly appear;
then your righteousness[a] will go before you,
and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.
9 Then you will call, and the LORD will answer;
you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.
This is my last update on this blog, at least until I return from the Trek!
I am preparing to go in that I am packing and getting appropriate clothing and whatnot. I am extraordinarily excited to go, though sober-minded at the life change that will surely happen.
The best and only thing to do is to spend time with Jesus.
Thank you for your prayers and support! I am still 95% funded! I need $209 to be fully funded! If you’d like to donate still, please check out donate.intervarsity.org/donate and type my name into the search bar!
Thank you for your partnership with me thus far, and for blessing me to go! Updates to come in a couple of months, or sooner if you are on my email list :)
For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,[e] 10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, 12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you[f] to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. 13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
